What is the cost of a 5-day elk hunt?

Archery and rifle elk hunts are $8,500 and $8,000 per hunter, respectively. Non-hunters or film crew is $500 per person for the 5-day hunt. 2021 dates – archery season September 4 – October 17, general season October 23 – November 28.
Do you offer other hunting opportunities with the 5-day elk hunt?

Yes, as an add-on to your 5-day elk hunt, deer hunting is available. Our deer population is managed for trophy quality bucks. Harvesting a deer requires a $2,500 trophy fee and a Montana deer license. 2021 dates – archery season September 4 – October 17, general season October 23 – November 28.

Antelope Hunt is $1,500 ($750 to hunt antelope and a $750 trophy fee.) and requires a Montana antelope license. Please contact Hammer ‘Em Outfitters so we can guide you through the process of obtaining the correct licensing for an antelope hunt. 2021 dates – archery season September 4 – October 8, general season October 9 – November 7.

5-day Guided Mountain Lion Hunt, professionally guided 1 on 1 hunt @ $5,500 per hunter, non-hunters or film crew is $500 per person for the 5-day hunt. A Mountain Lion License purchased after August 31 may not be used until 5 days after the license is issued. Winter season December 1 – April 14.

How many days of hunting do I get?

All hunts are five full consecutive days of hunting. You should arrive at the lodge by 5 PM the day before your hunt begins and will depart the morning of the 6-day following your 5-day hunt. If you elect to shorten your hunt, you are welcome to do so; however, the hunting fee remains the same. No credits will be given for shorter stays.
How many hunters do you hunt per week?
What is your deposit policy?

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking your hunt for hunter and non-hunter or film crew. The second half of your deposit is required no later than July 15th, no exceptions. Deposits are nonrefundable, but you may use your deposit to book a hunt with us in the future, up to three years from the date of your booked hunt.
What is your deposit policy if I want to book a return hunt?

If you wish to return to Hammer ‘Em Outfitters for the following hunting season, you must redeposit a 50% deposit to confirm your hunt for the next hunting season. Your 50% deposit must be received within two weeks following your hunt, or you must make arrangements with us before leaving the lodge to prevent your reservation from being released.
Does Hammer ‘Em Outfitters have a contract to book a hunt?

Yes, all hunters and guests are required to sign a Hammer ‘Em Outfitters “Hunter/Guest Agreement Form” at the time your 50% deposit is sent in to reserve your hunting dates. All agreements and deposits must reach Hammer ‘Em Outfitters on or before March 1st to confirm a hunt. Download Hunter Agreement Form here.

How do I apply for a Montana Big Game Hunting License?

Please visit Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks to apply for your nonresident big game license. March 15th is your deadline to apply. Hammer ‘Em Outfitters lease is NOT a special permit area and does NOT require a special permit. You have two options when purchasing your hunting license: (1) You can apply for a big game combination license (which includes elk, deer, birds, and fishing) OR (2) an elk combination license (which includes elk, fishing, and birds). If you are an archery hunter you will also be required to purchase an archery license. Please note if you are interested in either a rifle or archery antelope hunt, please contact us so we may guide you through the process of obtaining the correct licensing for your hunt. If you are looking for a truly exceptional big game hunt with Hammer ‘Em Outfitters, planning ahead and getting a draw license in a limited unit is well worth the effort.
What is the deadline for hunting permits for Montana?

March 15th is the deadline to apply for nonresident big game license drawing for Montana. Please be aware that there is NO GUARANTEE that surplus licenses will be available through Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks following the March 15th deadline. Where can I find the hunting regulations for Montana big game hunting?

All hunting guests of Hammer ‘Em Outfitters will be required to adhere to all Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks hunting regulations and the guides of Hammer ‘Em Outfitters. What airport should I fly into, how do I get to Hammer ‘Em Outfitters lodge?

We recommend you fly into Great Falls, Montana – Great Falls International Airport (GTF). If you would like to rent your own vehicle, refer to the Google Map of Lingshire, MT for directions to Walker Camp. The Lingshire Google Map will bring you to our green gate where you take a left and cross Rock Creek. Drive a mile and you will arrive at Walker Camp on your left. We are also willing to come pick you up and return you to the airport if you so choose at NO charge. If you choose to get a rental vehicle, confirm that it is a four-wheel drive vehicle as road conditions and weather can be a challenge this time of year in Montana.

What kind of weather should I expect?

Please see the weather quick access on our site to keep track of the forecast prior to your hunt. Montana’s weather is very unpredictable and ever-changing during the fall season. Please be prepared for all kinds of weather. Dressing in layers is highly recommended. Elevation at Walker Camp is 4690’.

What kind of gear and clothing should I bring?

Montana weather is very unpredictable. Please feel free to keep track of the weather as your hunt approaches with our quick access button on our home page. We suggest dressing in layers since the weather can change quickly in Montana. You will need to be prepared for all kinds of weather – anywhere from 70 degrees to snow. Rain gear, two pairs of comfortable waterproof hiking boots, and one pair of casual shoes to wear around the lodge are highly recommended. We have no preference in the pattern of camouflage that you choose to hunt in; anything you have will do just fine. For rifle hunting, Montana Law requires all hunters to wear fluorescent orange – 400 square inches above the waist. How far should my bow be sited in for?

Please practice and be proficient shooting out to 40 yards in varying weather conditions. Practice shooting under all types of conditions and various body angles both standing and kneeling. We have seen shots misplaced because of leaning around trees and brush to shoot when a hunter is not prepared for the situation. Be sure to shoot with all your hunting clothes on. Make sure that articles of clothing are not in the way when you draw, or the bow is being held different because of heavy clothes and thick outer garments.
What kinds of broadheads should I be using?
Do you have tree stands, and if so, do the tree stands have safety harnesses in them?
What caliber of rifle should I have for my hunt?

We recommend a 270 caliber or above, sighted in at 200 yards pend the caliber you are shooting. It is also wise to shoot targets before you arrive and know where your gun shoots at 100 and at 400 yards. You can never practice too much. Average shots range anywhere from 150-400 yards. Will I have an opportunity to site in my bow or rifle after it has traveled to hunting camp?
What is Hammer ‘Em Outfitters policy on a wounded animal?

With respect to the big game animal population and the healthy game management practices of Hammer ‘Em Outfitters, we have instilled the 1st Blood Rule. The 1st Blood Rule states that all wounded animals that are not recovered are treated as harvested animals and your hunt is over at the time of First Blood. Hammer ‘Em Outfitter pro guide will do everything in their power to recover a wounded animal to the best of the pro guides abilities.
How should I go about processing my wild game meat?

All wild game processing is done locally in White Sulphur Springs, MT. Your game will be taken directly from the field to White Sulphur Springs, MT to be processed. It is the client’s responsibility to arrange payment for processing and provide shipping instructions to the processor.
Is there a taxidermist that you would recommend?

One of our own pro guides is a very skilled taxidermist. He has done all of the caping and head mounting for us over the years. He would be more than happy to make arrangements with you to cape, mount, and ship your elk for you. Just ask and we will be happy to make it happen!
Do you have cell phone coverage or Wi-Fi at Hammer ‘Em Hunting Lodge?
Is alcohol allowed at Walker Camp?
Will I be able to access the famed Rock Creek for fly fishing?
What if my physical ability is a concern for me?

We can and are more than happy to accommodate for almost all physical conditions that a hunting guest may have. If you have a specific concern, please contact us prior to your arrival so that we can make the proper arrangements for you in advance to ensure a most rewarding hunting experience.
I have a food allergy and diet limitations?

There is an area on the Hammer ‘Em Outfitters Hunter/Guest Agreement and Reservation Form where you may note any food allergies and diet limitations you may have. We will make note of your food allergy and diet limitations and do our very best to meet your needs.
What kind of transportation do you have to and from the hunting area on the ranch?
How long of a Ranger ride is it from Walker Camp to the hunting area?
